PREREQUISITE COURSE REQUIREMENT: In order to enroll in this course, students are required to first complete our EV3 for Navigation Camp – No Exceptions.

Course Description:

Using the latest release EV3 Robotics System, students will further their learning in mechanical and programming concepts as well as, the Engineering/Iterative Design Process, with problem-solving for specific project challenges. Working in teams of two, students will build and program smart robots to perform innovative tasks such as sorting colors, manipulating objects, etc. In addition, students will learn more about Gear Systems and programming different Motors and Sensors using Loops, Switches, Multiple Switches, Data Wires, Variables, Logic, Case Structures, My Blocks (Sub-Routines), and more!

Students learn the above engineering and programming concepts, as they build and program the Vista Teach Instructional Model while also completing the Vista Teach Engineering PBL Modules. Next, students are challenged to redesign, modify, and improve upon the mechanical functionality along with, completely re-programming specific LEGO Education Robotic Structures (Color Sorter, etc.). Mock Design Review Meetings are held with real world, problem-solving for proof of concept for improved, viable prototypes, while maintaining “factory constraints” of reusing parts, with innovating enhanced robot designs & functionality along with developing efficient and well-commented programming.

Since students will be working in teams of two, campers may wish to enroll with a friend or relative, to specifically partner with. If this is the case, please note the requested partnership on the (required) Learning Styles Inventory Form posted below – thank you!
