REQUIRED COURSE PREREQUISITE

Introduction to LEGO® WeDo Robotics at a Vista Teach Camp (no exceptions!)

*Students who have met our prerequisite requirements may enroll in one or more sessions of our Intermediate LEGO® WeDo Camps.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In these individualized camp sessions, students use what they have learned in their Intro Level LEGO® WeDo Robotics Camp with taking their skills to the next level, building more complex models and programs. Using several LEGO® Robotics Systems (including LEGO® WeDo), students are challenged to design and build physical models incorporating different gear systems, pulley systems, motors, sensors, IR receivers, and remote controls that will perform certain tasks along with creating higher-level programs utilizing Wait Statements, If-Then Statements, Loop (Repeating) Statements, etc. Building and programming challenges are aligned closely with specific LEGO® Mindstorms NXT Robotics Systems activities with the objective of more seamless transitioning to FIRST LEGO® League (FLL) participation. Very limited enrollment for these individualized camp sessions!

For an optional full-day camp experience, campers can register for afternoon Fencing Camps (the intellectual sport) and bring their lunch. Staff from the Rochester Fencing Club will walk campers from the classroom to the cafeteria and then on to the gym for a full day of exercising both mind and body!

CODE OF CONDUCT

Designed for students, entering Grades 3 & 4, who perform well in school with no behavioral concerns that could impact his/her ability to participate in an academically enriching program requiring application of high-level computer programming and problem-solving skills, student collaboration, teamwork, as well as gracious professionalism all in the context and spirit of FIRST LEGO® League!
