REQUIRED COURSE PREREQUISTE

*Students who have met our prerequisite requirements may enroll in one or more sessions of our Intermediate LEGO® Mindstorms Camps.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Using the FLL Tournament NXT Base & Resource Sets and NXT 2.1 programming software, students continue developing their building, design, and programming skills with completing specific missions on Tournament Mats & Official Tournament Tables set up just like actual FIRST LEGO® League competitions! EACH student is provided their own laptop computer for learning in-depth programming concepts as well as creating their own programs for solving specific challenges and missions. With EACH student also provided their own LEGO® Mindstorms NXT Base & Resource Sets, students will be encouraged to build and program smart robots with finding ways to incorporate navigation points on the game field and analyze where they are in reference to their targets using various methods and sensors (limiting the use of odometry, or dead reckoning). Campers can enroll in more than one session of our Intermediate Level Camps with completing some of the many missions they can choose to solve for. This summer’s themed challenge is: Climate Connections!

For an optional full-day camp experience, campers can register for afternoon Fencing Camps (the intellectual sport) and bring their lunch. Staff from the Rochester Fencing Club will walk campers from the classroom to the cafeteria and then on to the gym for a full day of exercising both mind and body!
