COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this camp, students work together with writing their film scripts. Script-writing guidance is provided along with instruction on cinematic filming, lighting, and sound techniques so that students and instructors ultimately collaborate with creating a shot-list for each script along with planning out casting, filming locations, costuming, props, etc. Students take on specific acting, directing, or crew roles (their choice) while the lead instructor, a Certified Professional Videographer, films and edits the final production. A professional Hollywood green screen, along with professional lighting and sound equipment, and even a Jib Arm (camera crane) will also be available for production use. And, best of all, Allendale Columbia’s beautiful campus will be very conducive to capturing great video footage! Alternatively, college-bound students may choose to plan out, script, and produce specific, documentary-style video footage to be included as part of their college application, resume DVD. A post-production viewing and celebration is scheduled for the final session.
For an optional full-day camp experience, campers can register for afternoon Fencing Camps (the intellectual sport) and bring their lunch. Staff from the Rochester Fencing Club will walk campers from the classroom to the cafeteria and then on to the gym for a full day of exercising both mind and body!
Designed for students, entering Grades 9 thru 12, who perform well in school with no behavioral concerns that could impact his/her ability to participate in an academically enriching program requiring application of high-level digital editing techniques, attention to detail with learning a variety of specific camera techniques, as well as ongoing student collaboration and teamwork with completing small group filming assignments.
